Baked Potato Moussaka with Grated Cottage Cheese in Casserole Bowl Recipe
As you understand from the title, here is a yummy main dish recipe again. This potato moussaka is a combination of potato, pepper, tomato, carrot and ground beef.
- 3 middle size potatoes,
- 1 carrot,
- 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil,
For the ground beef mixture;
- 250 grams lean ground beef,
- 1 medium size onion,
- 1 green pepper,
- 3 grated tomatoes (a cup),
- 1 red bell pepper,
- 1 tablespoon of tomato paste,
- 3 tablespoons of vegetable oil,
- Red pepper,
- Crushed red pepper,
- Black pepper,
- 1 cup of hot water (200 ml.).
For the top;
- Grated cottage cheese.

Firstly, wash and peel the potatoes and the carrot.
Then slice the carrot, dice the potatoes and put them into a deep bowl.
Add the vegetable oil and salt, combine them and place them on a baking sheet into a tray.
Bake them into the preheated oven at 200°C until they get golden.
To prepare the ground beef mixture, heat the oil and put the finely chopped onion, cook by stirring.
Add the ground beef and cook until the ground beef gives out its juice and then again absorbs.
Then add the paste and cook by stirring.
Add the chopped pepper, grated tomatoes, salt and the spices and cook 2 or 3 minutes.
Finally add the water and stir it.
Turn off the stove.
Place the baked diced potatoes and slices of the carrot into casserole bowls (4 or 5 ).
Pour the ground beef mixture on the potatoes and the carrot slices and place the casserole bowls into a baking tray.
Bake them into preheated oven at 180°C for 10 minutes and take them out.
Sprinkle some grated cottage cheese on them and again bake them until the cheese melts and they get golden.
After baking, serve the potato moussaka hot.
If you want, you can prepare the baked potato moussaka in a suitable pyrex or baking tray instead of casserole bowls.
