Baked Potatoes with Bechamel Sauce Recipe

- 8 middle size potatoes,
- Almost a full palm of peas.
For the bechamel sauce;
- 75 grams butter or margarine,
- 2 tablespoons of all purpose flour,
- 3,5 cups of milk (700 ml.),
- 1 teaspoon of salt,
- Black pepper.
For the top;
- 250 grams grated kashar cheese.
Process of Baked Potatoes with Bechamel Sauce Recipe
Firstly, peel the potatoes and wash well.
Then cut them in big pieces and put them in a pot.
Add the water and the salt and leave it to boil.
After they get tender enough,drain and mash the potatoes by using a fork.
Place the mashed potato in a greased pyrex and spread.
Then sprinkle the peas on the mashed potato.
To prepare the bechamel sauce, melt the butter .
Add the flour and stir until bubbly. Don’t let the flour darken or burn.
Turn the heat to low, add the milk,salt and the black pepper and whisk until smooth.
and continue whisking until the mixture scalds and begins to thicken.
Cook by stirring until you have a smooth, white sauce.
While the sauce is still hot, pour it on the mashed potato and peas.
Bake it in the preheated oven at 180°C until it starts to get golden.
Take it out from the oven and sprinkle some grated kashar on it and again bake until it gets golden brown.
Then serve hot.
