Baked Rice Pudding Recipe
It is another form of rice pudding originated from the Marmara Region. Pudding can be poured into a baking dish set in a larger pan of water and baked. Cut into portions before serving. Here is the our baked rice pudding recipe;
- 1 liter milk (5 cups),
- 1 cup of granulated sugar,
- A half cup of rice,
- 1 tablespoon of starch or rice flour,
- 1 packet of vanilla (5 grams),
- 2 cups of water (400 ml.) (to boil the rice).
Process of Baked Rice Pudding Recipe
To prepare the rice pudding, firstly, rinse and drain the rice and put the rice into a pot. Pour 2 cups of water on the rice. And leave it to boil. When it starts to boil, reduce the heat. Let the rice simmer gently until the rice is soft (if necessary, you can add some more water).
Then add the milk on the rice and let the mixture to boil. After it starts to boil, add in the sugar, vanilla and the mixture (starch mixed with the half cup of milk). Reduce the heat and let it boil very gently for about 10 minutes.
Remove from the heat and fill small, ovenproof dessert cups or clay cups with the hot mixture. Place the cups into the baking tray.
Pour some water into the tray (the water level should be the half of the ovenproof dessert cups). Place the tray at the top shelf of the oven. Bake them at 200°C until the tops are nicely browned.
Remove them from the oven and let the cups cool at room temperature then refrigerate them for several hours before serving.
Note: If you want you can sprinkle walnut, nut and cinnamon on them. You get 8 ovenproof dessert cups pudding with this baked rice pudding recipe.
