Beef and Potato Casserole Recipe
Try this delicious and rich recipe for beef and potato casserole. The family is sure to love the flavorful beef with potatoes.
- 5 – 6 potatoes,
- 3 – 4 tablespoons of vegetable oil,
For the beef mixture;
- 500 grams bite sized beef,
- 2 onions,
- 1 red pepper,
- 3 tomatoes,
- 1 tablespoon of butter,
- 3 tablespoons of vegetable oil,
- 1 tablespoon of tomato paste ,
- Red pepper flakes,
- Dried thyme,
- 1 teacup of water (110 ml.).
For the top;
- Grated cheddar cheese.
Process of Beef and Potato Casserole Recipe
Firstly, peel the potatoes and dice them.
Mix the diced potatoes, salt and vegetable oil.
Then place them on a baking sheet in to a tray.
Bake them in the preheated oven at 180°C until they get tender and lightly golden.
To prepare the beef mixture, heat a large pot over the stove and put the bite sized beef in it.
Cook the beef pieces until their color change by stirring (do not let the beef give out its juice) (by sealing the beef you lock in its flavour and juices).
Then cook the beef pieces until they absorb the juice again and after that add the butter and stir.
Add the chopped onions and pepper and continue to cook by stirring.
Then add the paste and the peeled, diced tomatoes.
And add the red pepper flakes, thyme and salt and stir.
Finally add the water and cook for more 5 minutes and remove the mixture from the stove.
Firstly, place the potatoes in the casserole bowls and then place the beef mixture on them.
Bake them in the preheated oven at 180°C for 10 minutes.
Then take them out from the oven and sprinkle some grated cheddar cheese on them and continue to bake until the cheese melts.
After baking, serve the dish hot.
