Cacik – Turkish Yogurt with Cucumber Recipe
Cacik – Turkish Yogurt with Cucumber is a refreshing dish that usually takes place of a plate of salad. Very refreshing on hot summer days.
- 2 cups of yogurt,
- 1 cup of cold water,
- 5-6 small cucumbers, peeled and diced very small,
- 2 cloves garlic, diced very small,
- Fresh mint (to taste), finely chopped,
For its above;
- Olive oil,
- Dried mint.
Process of Cacik – Turkish Yogurt with Cucumber Recipe
Wash the cucumbers and peel. Dice them very small size in a bowl.
Chopp the fresh mint and garlic finely and add them on the cucumbers.
Add the yogurt and give it a good stir, taste for seasoning, and chill.
Add the water gradually until required consistency is achieved by stirring.
Some prefer it watery while some like it thick. It’s completely up to you.
Stir in some salt, taste and add more if required.
Place it into the fridge for 1 hour.
At the end of the time pour into bowls, trickle a little olive oil on top of each and sprinkle with dried mint.
The cool cucumber, Turkish yogurt and mint combination goes very well served by the side of grilled meats, vegetables and casseroles.
