Cheese Flatbread Recipe
This cheese flatbread (pide) is one of the most popular snacks in Turkey. It can be made in various fillings, ground meat and onion, cheese and Turkish spicy sausage, etc.
- 1 tablespoon of butter,
- 1 teacup of warm milk (110 ml.),
- 3 teacup of warm water (330 ml.),
- 1 coffee spoon of granulated sugar,
- 1 coffee spoon of salt,
- 10 grams instant yeast (1 packet),
- 5,5 cups of all purpose flour (the cup is 200 ml).
For the filling;
- Feta cheese (300 grams),
- Cheddar cheese (200 grams),
For the top:
- 1 egg (beat),
- Sesame seeds.
Process of Cheese Flatbread Recipe
Firstly, to prepare the dough, combine all the ingredients except for the yeast and the flour in a deep bowl.
Add the yeast and add the flour slowly and knead well and get a soft and sticky dough.
Knead the dough for 3 or 4 minutes and clean your hands and make your hands slightly floured and gather the dough. Cover the dough with a clean cloth and leave it to rise for 30 minutes.
To prepare the filling, mix the grated cheddar cheese, feta cheese and chopped parsley in a small bowl.
After the dough gets double, place it on a slightly floured surface and roll lengthwise make a long dough and divide it in 10 pieces.
Roll the pieces in your palm and roll out them on a floured surface lengthwise.
Place the filling and fold the sides up over the filling.
Place the flat bread on a baking sheet in a tray and brush the beat egg on them and sprinkle sesame seeds.
Then bake them in the preheated oven at 200°C until they get slightly golden.
After baking, cover the flat breads with a clean slightly wet cloth and leave them for 3 or 5 minutes (This makes them softer).
Then serve them hot.
