Custard Pie with Kataifi Recipe

- 250 grams fresh kataifi,
- 100 grams of butter,
- 1 teacup crushed hazelnut,
- 6 tablespoons of granulated sugar.
For the custard;
- 5 cups of milk (1 liter),
- 1 cups of granulated sugar,
- 5 tablespoons of all purpose flour,
- 2 tablespoons of starch,
- 1 packet of vanilla (5 grams),
- 25 grams margarine,
- 1 packet whipped cream powder (75 grams).
Process of Custard Pie with Kataifi Recipe
Firstly, cut the kataifi in small pieces by using a kitchen scissors. If you want, firstly put the kataifi in the freezer then make them in small pieces by using your hands. Then place the butter and the kataifi in a pot and cook by stirring.
When the kataifi gets crispy, add the sugar and continue to cook by stirring until the kataifi gets golden brown. Then add the crushed hazelnut and turn of the stove.
To prepare the custard, combine the milk, sugar, starch and flour in a pot and the cook it by stirring until it gets thick. After it gets thick enough, add the vanilla and the margarine and mix well. Then turn off the stove and leave it to get warm. After the custard gets warm, add the whipped cream powder and mix for 2 or 3 minutes by using a mixer.
Place the half of the kataifi in a pie pan. Pour the custard on the kataifi and spread. Place the other half of the kataifi.
