Process of Custard Pie with Phyllo Recipe
Firstly, to prepare the syrup, put the sugar and the water in a pot and mix them then leave it to boil. After it starts to boil, continue to boil over low heat and add 1 or 2 drops of lemon juice. After boiling it for a while, turn off the stove and leave it to cool at the room temperature.
To prepare the custard, mix the milk, flour, sugar and egg by using a wire beater. Cook it by stirring until it gets thick.
Grease a baking tray or pyrex with the melted butter (In this recipe a large rectangular pyrex is used, you can use a smaller one). Place a phyllo pastry sheet in the greased pyrex and brush the butter on it and continue with the other 14 phyllo sheets by brushing butter on each of them.
After placing the 15th sheet pour the custard and spread (If you want, sprinkle some black pepper on the custard).
Place a sheet on the custard and brush the butter and continue with the 14 sheets again by brushing the butter on each of them. Brush the butter left on the last sheet and cut the dessert by using a knife.
Bake it in the preheated oven at 180°C until it gets golden brown.
Just after you remove it from the oven, pour the syrup and leave it to cool.
When it gets enough cool, serve the dessert.
If you want, you can serve the custard pie with phyllo without syrup but sprinkle some powdered sugar on and increase the amount of the sugar in the custard.
