For the cake;

  • 3 eggs,
  • 1/2 cup of granulated sugar,
  • 1/2 cup of vegetable oil,
  • 1 cup of breadcrumbs,
  • 1 cup of ground walnut,
  • 10 grams baking powder (1 packet),
  • 1 cup of desiccated coconut flakes.

For the custard;

  • 1 liter milk,
  • 1 cup of starch,
  • 1/2 cup of granulated sugar,
  • 1 packet vanilla (5 grams),
  • 1 packet whipped cream (75 grams).

For the syrup;

  • 2 cups of water,
  • 1,5 cup of granulated sugar,
  • 1 packet vanilla (5 grams).

Process of Cyprus Dessert Recipe

For the syrup, combine the granulated sugar and water in a heavy saucepan over the medium heat and bring it to boil.
When it boils, reduce the heat and simmer it for 15 minutes.
And then turn the heat off and add vanilla and set the syrup aside to cool.

For the cake, mix the eggs and granulated sugar in a deep bowl by mixer.
Add the vegetable oil, breadcrumbs, ground walnut, desiccated coconut flakes and baking powder and mix.
Pour the mixture into the greased rectangle baking pyrex and spread.
Bake it into the preheated oven to 160°C for 30 minutes.
Remove the cake from the oven and pour the cool syrup onto the hot cake.
Set the cake aside to cool.

For the custard; stir the milk, granulated sugar, starch and vanilla in a pot.
Cook until it thickens by stirring constantly.
Remove the pot and let it get warm. Then add the whipped cream and mix for 15 minutes.
Pour the custard on to the cool cake absorbed the syrup and spread it.

Finally, sprinkle desiccated coconut flakes on the top of it and put it into the fridge for 2 or 3 hours.
After it gets cool then slice it and serve.
