- 4 medium size potatoes,
- 250 grams ground beef,
- 1 onion,
- 1 egg,
- 2 tablespoons breadcrumbs,
- Vegetable oil.
Process of Cyprus Meatballs Recipe
Prepare the Cyprus meatballs mixture. Wash and peel the potatoes and in one large bowl, grate in 4 of the potatoes using the grater with the edge that slices small sized shreds. Then push out the water by squeezing.
Grate the onions and add it on the potatoes. Add the ground beef, egg, chopped parsley and other spices and mix. Add the breadcrumbs into the mixture slowly and knead at the same time until it gets the right consistency to be shaped.
Heat up the oil in a deep saucepan.
While the oil is heating up, get a little of the mix and using the palms of your hands roll it into a ball. (about the size of a walnut) and place on a plate. Keep doing this until all mix is used.
Once the oil is hot, put your meatballs in carefully one by one and fry until they get fried enough, don’t stir or turn them. Once cooked, put them into a plate lined with kitchen paper to drain off any excess oil.
Serve hot or warm.
Note: You can use bread instead of breadcrumbs.
