Easy Riddled Cookies Recipe
Yummy riddled cookies! Turkish syrup-drenched pastries that have a riddle appearance. These simple cookies require hardly any ingredients or work (so easy to put together).
For the dough;
- 2 cups of vegetable oil (400 ml.),
- 1 cup of water (200 ml.),
- 1 packet of baking powder (10 grams),
- 4 1/2 or 5 cups of all purpose flour.
For the syrup;
- 3 and a half more cup water,
- 3 and a half more cup granulated sugar,
- 1/4 fresh lemon juice.
The cup size: 200 ml.
Process of Easy Riddled Cookies Recipe
Firstly, in a medium pan, mix the sugar and water and bring to a boil. When it starts to boil, add the lemon juice and let simmer for 2 minutes more. Then remove it from the heat.
To prepare the dough, pour the oil and the water in a deep bowl. Add the flour and the baking powder and knead. Get a smooth but not a sticky dough.
Take walnut sized pieces from the dough and roll them into your palms then press each piece of the dough over a sieve or a shredder with your fingers while rolling and shaping into oblongs (do not press through).
Place the cookies into a greased tray and bake them in the preheated oven to 180°C until they get golden brown for almost 30 or 35 minutes. After taking the cookies out, pour the warm syrup over the cookies and set aside until the cookies soak all the syrup.
You can get 37 cookies with these ingredients.
If you want, you can use ground walnuts for the filling.
