Flaky Pastry Rolls Recipe

For a big breakfast, the delicious flaky pastry rolls are ready before family wakes up. It is easy to make and instead of bread it is a good choice, isn’t it?

For the dough;

  • 1 cup of warm milk,
  • 2 tablespoons of granulated sugar,
  • 1 packet of instant yeast(10 grams),
  • 2 egg whites (egg yolks are for the top),
  • 1 cup of vegetable oil,
  • 1 coffee spoon of salt,
  • 4 and a half more cups all purpose flour.

The cup is 200 ml.

To brush ;

  • 100 grams soft butter.

For the top;

  • 2 Egg yolks.

Process of Flaky Pastry Rolls Recipe

At first, mix the warm milk, granulated sugar and yeast into a deep bowl and leave it for 5 minutes.
Then add the egg whites, vegetable oil and salt and mix them.
Add the flour slowly and knead.
Get a soft but not a sticky dough and after covering the dough with a towel, leave it to rise for 1 hour.

After one hour, knead the dough again and make it 8 pieces.
Roll the pieces into your palms and roll them on a lightly floured plain surface by using a rolling pin as big as a serving plate.
Brush the soft butter on the pieces and put on top of each other (Do not brush the soft butter on the upper one).

Roll the 8 tiered dough to 0.5 cm (1/4 inch) by using rolling pin.
Roll the dough and slice as 1 cm. thick by using a knife.
Press on the slices lightly by using your hand to make it larger.
Place the slices on a baking sheet in a tray or in a greased tray.
And leave them into the tray to rise for 10 minutes before baking.

Brush the egg yolk on them and bake into the preheated oven at 180°C until they get golden brown.
After baking, take them out and serve. The delicious flaky pastry rolls are ready before family wakes up.
