Fluffy Pastry with Soda Pop Recipe

There are some good recipes that call for soda pop as part of the ingredient list. With this recipe try baking pastry with soda pop.

Ingredients;

For the dough;

  • 1 packet of instant yeast (10 grams),
  • 1 tablespoons of granulated sugar,
  • A half teacup of warm water,
  • 1 cup of yogurt,
  • 1 cup of vegetable oil,
  • 1,5 coffee spoons of salt,
  • 1 cup of soda pop or mineral water,
  • 1 packet of baking powder (10 grams),
  • 2 egg whites(the egg yolks are for the top)
  • 7,5 cups of all purpose flour(the cup is 200 ml.).

For the filling;

  • Feta or curd cheese,
  • A pinch of parsley.

For the top;

  • 2 egg yolks,
  • Sesame seeds or poppy seeds.

Process of Fluffy Pastry with Soda Pop Recipe

Firstly, to prepare the pastry with soda pop dough, combine the water, yeast, sugar in a bowl.
Combine the yogurt, vegetable oil, egg white, soda pop, salt and baking powder in a deep bowl.
Add the yeast mixture in to the deep bowl and add the flour slowly and knead the dough for almost 10 minutes.
Get a soft and lightly sticky dough.
Cover the dough with a plastic wrap and cover also with a clean cloth and leave it to rise for an hour.

After the dough rises, knead and gather the dough.
Then take mandarin size pieces from the dough and roll them in your palm.
Get 22 pieces.

Place the dough balls in a lightly floured tray and cover them with a plastic wrap and leave them in the tray for 20 minutes.

After the 20 minutes, make the balls flatten and larger by pressing on them by using your hand in your palms.
Place some of the chopped parsley and the feta mixture in the centre and enclose the filling by making the edges coming together.
And roll it again in your palm and place it on a baking sheet in a tray by leaving some spaces between each dough balls.
Continue with the other dough pieces.
Then cover the doughs again and leave them to rise in the tray for 20 minutes.

After 20 minutes, brush the egg yolk on them and sprinkle some sesame seeds and poppy seeds.

Finally bake them in the preheated oven at 190°C until they get golden brown (they get golden brown in a short time).

After baking, serve them.
This pastry with soda pop recipe is for 22 fluffy pastry.
