Green Pea Side Dish Recipe
One of the favorite vegetables is pea so here is a very simple but satisfying green pea side dish recipe. With a wonderful pilaf, try this dish.
- 2 medium size potatoes,
- 1 medium size carrot,
- 1 onion,
- 3 tablespoons of vegetable oil,
- 1 tablespoon of tomato paste,
- 1 kilo peas,
- 3 cups of hot water (the cup is 200 ml.),
- 1 coffee spoon of salt (or how much you like),
- 1 coffee spoon of red pepper flakes.
Process of Green Pea Side Dish Recipe
Firstly, peel the potatoes and carrot and dice them.
Heat the vegetable oil in a pot and cook the finely chopped onion by stirring.
Add the paste and cook by stirring.
Then add the diced carrots, potatoes and peas and stir.
After adding the red pepper flakes and salt, cook by stirring for 1 or 2 minutes more.
At the end pour the hot water and leave it to boil.
When it starts to boil, make the heat low.
Cover the lid.
Leave it over the low heat until the vegetables get tender for almost 35 or 40 minutes.
At the end of the time or when the vegetables get tender enough, turn off the stove and serve hot.
This recipe is for 5 or 6 people.
After you cook the green pea side dish, if necessary you can add more hot water.
If you want to use canned peas, add these canned peas after the potatoes and the carrot get tender (5 minutes before you turn off the stove).
