Homemade Bagels Recipe
To be able to make soft homemade bagels, some secrets must be known. First of all, ingredients should be in room temperature. Secondly you need to knead it well to get a good result. Lastly the dough should be rest in a warm place for at least 30 minutes to doubled in size. And also with this homemade bagels recipe, it is very easy and yummy.
- 1 cup of warm milk (200 ml.),
- 1 teacup of vegetable oil (110 ml.),
- 200 ml. warm water (1 cup),
- 1 tablespoon of granulated sugar,
- 1 coffee spoon of salt,
- One packet of yeast (42 grams),
- Almost 4 – 4,5 cups of all purpose flour.
- 50 grams of melted butter (1 tablespoon).
For the top;
- 1 egg yolk,
- 1 flick of granulated sugar,
- One coffee spoon of vegetable oil,
- Black cumin seeds.
Process of Homemade Bagels Recipe
Firstly, to prepare the homemade bagels dough, combine the warm milk and warm water in a deep bowl.
Add the sugar and the yeast and mix them until the yeast end the sugar dissolve.
Then add the vegetable oil, salt and add the flour slowly and knead well.
Cover the dough and leave it to rise for 30 minutes.
After the 30 minutes, take mandarin size pieces from the dough and roll them in your palm.
Make the dough pieces larger on a plain surface by pressing on them by using your fingers slightly bigger than a tea plate.
And brush the melted butter on them and roll them.
Give them thin and long shape like a snake by rolling.
After making the roll longer, turn the beginning of the dough and the end of the dough to opposite sides.
Stick the edges together to make them round like ring.
Place them on a baking sheet in a tray and leave them to rise in the tray for 30 minutes before baking.
Mix the egg yolk, vegetable oil and a flick of granulated sugar in a small bowl.
Brush the mixture on the bagels and bake them in the preheated oven at 180°C until they get golden brown.
Then serve homemade bagels hot.
