Homemade Pogaca Recipe
The homemade pogaca is very fluffy and soft. When you taste, you will love it.
For the dough;
- 250 grams butter or margarine (at the room temperature),
- 2 eggs,
- A half cup of milk (100 ml.),
- 1,5 packet of instant yeast (10+5 grams),
- 1 coffee spoon of salt,
- 1 tablespoon of granulated sugar,
- 4,5 – 5 cups of all purpose flour (the cup is 200 ml.).
For the filling;
- Cottage cheese.
For the top;
- 1 egg yolk,
- A flick powdered sugar.
Process of Homemade Pogaca Recipe
To prepare the dough, combine all the ingredients except for the flour and yeast in a deep bowl.
Add the yeast and add the flour slowly and knead for 5 minutes.
Get a soft but not sticky dough.
Cover the dough and leave it to rise for 30 minutes.
After 30 minutes, knead the dough for 1 minute and take mandarin size pieces from the dough and roll them in your palm.
Get 24 rolled dough pieces.
Make the dough pieces flat with your hands by pressing lightly on them on a plain surface.
Put the filling (grated cheese or a slice of cheese) on one half of the circle then cover the filling with the other half of the dough and gently press on the edges, like a half moon.
Then place the dough on a baking sheet into a tray by leaving about one inch between each roll.
Mix the egg yolk and a flick of powdered sugar in a bowl.
Brush the mixture on the doughs and make lines on the doughs by using a fork.
Before baking, leave them to rise in the tray for 30 or 45 minutes.
Finally bake them in the preheated oven at 180°C until they get golden brown.
After taking them out from the oven, serve.
This recipe is for 24 homemade pogaca.
After they get cool enough at the room temperature, put them into freezer bags and place them in the freezer.
When you need, take them out from the freezer and heat.
If you want, you can take them out from the freezer the night before (they look and taste as if they are cooked at that time and they are still fresh and soft).
