Layered Cheese Pastries (Turkish Borek) Recipe
Cheese Turkish Borek Recipe. Everyone loves this layered cheese pastries.
- 4 sheets of phyllo dough.
For the sauce;
- 1 egg,
- 1 tea cup of vegetable oil,
- 2 cups of milk,
- 1 pinch of salt,
- 1 packet of baking powder (10 grams).
For the filling;
- 200 grams of cottage cheese,
- Handful of flat leaf parsley (finely chopped).

For the sauce, mix all the ingredients in a deep bowl.
For filling, toss together the crumbled cottage cheese and chopped parsley in a bowl.
Grease the big rectangular baking pyrex.
Cut the filo dough into 2 equal parts to fit your baking pan. You get eight phyllo dough pieces.
Take a piece of phyllo dough and place it in an uneven, wrinkly fashion to cover the bottom of the tray.
Then, dip two pieces of phyllo dough into the sauce and lay them on the first piece of phyllo dough into the tray.
Sprinkle half of the cheese mixture over them.
Lay a piece of phyllo dough on top of the mixture. Then, dip a piece of phyllo dough into the sauce and lay it on.
Sprinkle half of the cheese left mixture over them. Then, dip two pieces of phyllo dough into the sauce and lay them on.
Finally lay the piece of phyllo dough on top and cut the borek into square shapes with a sharp knife.
Drizzle the last portion of the sauce over the top, wetting all of it.
Sprinkle the top of your pastry with sesame seeds or love-in-a-mist seeds.
Put them into the fridge for 10 – 15 minutes.
Bake it into the preheated oven to 180°C until the top is nicely browned .
When your pastry is cooked, remove the tray from oven and after 10 minutes you can serve.
