Meatball Casserole Recipe
A simple recipe for delicious meatball casserole in tomato sauce and topped with cheddar cheese.
For the meatballs;
- 500 grams ground beef,
- 2 slices of stale bread,
- 1 grated onion,
- Dried mint,
- Black pepper,
- Red pepper flakes,
To fry the meatballs;
- Vegetable oil.
For the sauce;
- 3 big tomatoes,
- A half tablespoon of tomato paste,
- 2 cloves of garlic,
- 1 tablespoon of butter.
For the top;
- 1 bowl of grated cheddar cheese.
Process of Meatball Casserole Recipe
Firstly, to prepare the meatballs mixture, add all the ingredients in a deep bowl and knead well.
Take walnut size pieces from the mixture and roll them in your palm.
Leave the meatballs in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
Then fry them and place them in casseroles.
To prepare the tomato sauce, peel the tomatoes and cut them in small pieces then place them in a pot.
Add the butter and 1 or 2 tablespoons of oil (you fried the meatballs in) and cook.
Then add the paste, cloves of garlic, salt and thyme and continue to cook until the tomatoes get tender.
Pour the sauce in the casseroles on the meatballs.
Bake them in the oven at 250°C for 20 minutes.
At the end of the time, take them out from the oven and sprinkle grated cheddar cheese on them and continue to bake them until the cheddar cheese melts.
Then serve hot.
