Potato and Onion Cake Recipe
The potato and onion cake is great with any meal or as a snack.
For the dough;
- 2 medium size potatoes,
- 2 medium size onions,
- 1 cup of yogurt,
- 2 eggs,
- 1 cup of vegetable oil,
- 2 coffee spoons of salt,
- 1 packet of baking powder (10 grams),
- Red pepper flakes,
- 3,5 cups of all purpose flour (the cup is 200 ml.).
For the top;
- Vegetable oil,
Process of Potato and Onion Cake Recipe
Firstly, chop the onions and peel the potatoes and dice them
Beat the eggs in a deep bowl and add the yogurt, vegetable oil, salt and mix.
Then add the baking powder and add the flour slowly (2,5 cups).
Add the chopped onions and diced potatoes and mix the batter.
Add the red pepper flakes and add one more cup flour and knead.
The dough is sticky and thicker than a cake mixture.
Pour the mixture in a greased large round pyrex and make your hand greased by dipping your palms in to vegetable oil.
Lightly press on the dough with your hands and make the dough spread.
Finally sprinkle some sesame on it.
Bake the potato and onion cake in the preheated oven at 180°C until it gets golden brown.
Before taking it out from the oven, check it by using a toothpick.
After baking, turn off the oven and leave it in to the oven for a while.
Then take it out and serve.
While you are lightly pressing on the cake dough with your greased hands, the dough shouldn’t stick to your hands.
If the cake dough is not thick enough, you can not bake the cake because the onions and the potatoes also give out their juice but it does not mean to add more flour in the mixture.
