Soft Breakfast Pastry Recipe
One of the favorite breakfast pastries is a soft breakfast pastry called ‘pogaca’. ‘Pogaca’ has the tender texture of a baking powder biscuit, and is often stuffed with delectable fillings like black olives, feta cheese, ground beef and potato.
For the dough;
- 1 cup of warm milk,
- 1,5 tablespoon dry yeast,
- 1 cup of warm water,
- 4 tablespoons of granulated sugar,
- 1 cup of vegetable oil,
- 1 egg,
- 2 coffee spoons of salt, (not full spoon),
- 6-7 cups of all purpose flour.
The cup is: 200 ml.
For the top;
- Egg yolk,
- 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil,
- 1 teaspoon of granulated sugar,
- Sesame seeds,
- Black cumin seeds.
Process of Soft Breakfast Pastry Recipe
For the soft breakfast pastry dough, in a deep bowl pour the milk, water, sugar and the yeast.
Mix them and leave it for 10 minutes to let the yeast works.
Then add the vegetable oil, egg and the salt.
Add the flour slowly and knead the dough until you get a soft and sticky dough.
Cover the dough with a towel and leave the dough for an half hour.
Take mandarin size pieces from the dough and roll them.
Place the rolled pieces in to the greased tray.
Mix the egg yolk, vegetable oil and sugar and brush it on the rolled pieces and at the end sprinkle sesame seeds and black cumin seeds on them.
Leave the pieces into the tray for 15 or 20 minutes before baking.
After waiting their rising, bake them in to the preheated oven to 180°C until they get golden brown (Be careful because the pastries get golden brown fast).
You can use the soft pastries for your breakfast instead of bread and also you can place feta, cottage cheese, tomato slices in to them like a sandwich.
