Sponge Cake Recipe
Give this basic sponge cake recipe a try for make a perfect birthday cake. It is easy to make and also the result is so delicious.
- 4 eggs (at the room temperature),
- A flick of salt,
- 1 cup of granulated sugar (the cup size is 200 ml.),
- 4 tablespoons of warm water,
- 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil,
- 1 cup and 1 full tablespoon of all purpose flour,
- 1 grated orange or lemon peel,
- 10 grams baking powder (1 packet),
- 5 grams vanilla (1 packet).
Process of Sponge Cake Recipe
Firstly, put the egg yolks and the egg whites in separate bowls.
Add a flick of salt in the egg whites and mix them until foamy like whipped cream.
Add the granulated sugar in the egg yolks and mix them well.
Then add the grated orange or lemon peel, water and the vegetable oil and continue to mix.
Add the sifted flour, baking powder and the vanilla and mix it by stirring.
At the end add the mixed egg whites in the mixture and mix by using a spatula slowly.
Place a baking sheet in a spring form pan and pour the cake mixture in it.
Place a small pyrex full of water at the bottom of the oven.
Bake the cake in the preheated oven at 165°C for 25 minutes without opening the cover of the oven.
At the end of the 25 minutes, check the cake by using a toothpick and if the time is not enough, continue to bake for more 5 minutes.
Then turn off the oven but do not open the cover and leave the cake in the oven for 5 minutes.
After 5 minutes, open the cover of the oven and leave the cake in the oven for more 10 minutes.
Then take the cake out from the oven and leave it to cool.
And remove the cake from the pan by turning it on a plate.
Leave the cake in the refrigerator for one night.
Then divide the sponge cake in half and it is ready for make a perfect birthday cake.
