The Best Flaky Phyllo Pastry Dessert Recipe
Baklava is a favorite pastry dessert made with flaky phyllo dough that is layered with a cinnamon-spiced nut filling and bathed in sweet syrup. Ingredients;
- 15 sheets flaky phyllo dough,
For the creamy sauce;
- 5 eggs,
- 2 packets of cream (200 + 200 ml.),
- 1 cup of semolina,
- 1 cup of vegetable oil,
- A half cup of granulated sugar,
- 2 packets of baking powder (10 + 10 grams),
- 2 packets of vanilla (5 + 5 grams).
For the syrup;
- 2,5 cups of granulated sugar,
- 3 cups of water,
- A quarter lemon juice.

Firstly, mix the eggs and the sugar in a deep bowl by using a wire beater.
Add the vegetable oil, semolina and cream and continue to mix.
Finally add the vanilla and baking powder and mix well.
Place a flaky phyllo sheet in to a greased tray and wrap the edges inside.
Put 3 tablespoons of creamy sauce on the sheet and spread.
Place a flaky phyllo sheet again and wrap the edges inside and put 3 tablespoons of creamy sauce on it and spread, too.
Continue with the other 13 flaky phyllo sheets.
Pour the creamy sauce left on the upper flaky phyllo sheet and spread and make some holes by using a toothpick.
Then bake the flaky phyllo pastry dessert in the preheated oven at 175°C until it gets golden brown.
To prepare the syrup, mix the water, sugar and lemon juice in a pot and leave it to boil over the stove.
After it starts to boil, boil it for more 10 minutes over low heat.
Then turn off the heat and leave it to get cool at the room temperature.
After baking, take the dessert out from the oven and leave it to get warm.
After it gets warm, pour the warm syrup on it.
And leave it to absorb the syrup and get cool.
