Yogurt Cake with Lemon Syrup Recipe
It’s quick to make this yogurt cake and it’s sure to be a winner. Serve with lemon syrup as an extra special treat.
For the cake;
- 3 eggs,
- 2 Turkish coffee cups of granulated sugar,
- A half Turkish coffee cup of vegetable oil,
- 3 tablespoons of yogurt,
- 6 Turkish coffee cups of all-purpose flour,
- 1 packet of baking powder (10 grams).
For the syrup;
- 4 cups of granulated sugar,
- 5 cups of water,
- 1/2 fresh lemon juice.
The cup size is 200 ml.
The Turkish coffee cup size is 50 ml.
Process of Yogurt Cake with Lemon Syrup Recipe
For the yogurt cake with lemon syrup, first make the syrup.
Stir the sugar and water in a pot until the sugar dissolves and leave to boil.
Simmer for 10 minutes without stirring.
Pour the lemon juice and remove from the heat. Leave it to cool.
For the cake, mix the sugar and eggs in a deep bowl until pale and creamy.
Add the vegetable oil and yogurt and keep mixing.
Sift the flour and baking powder into the mixture and mix well.
Pour the mixture into the round baking dish (30 cm.) and spread.
Bake it in the preheated oven to 180°C for 25 – 30 minutes (or until the top gets golden brown) and leave for 10 minutes.
At the end of the time pour the cool syrup over the warm cake.
The syrup should reach every side of the cake.
Leave to cool and let the cake absorb the syrup.
After it gets cool then slice it and sprinkle coconut on the top of your slices.
This is the easiest yogurt cake recipe I’ve ever seen for the holiday or any other time when you have too little time.
