Zebra Butter Cake Recipe
You’ll have lots of fun making this delicious and creative zebra butter cake together with your children. This zebra butter cake is perfect to enjoy with a cup of coffee for an lazy afternoon.
- 125 grams butter or margarine (at the room temperature),
- 1 cup of granulated sugar,
- 3 eggs,
- 1 grated lemon peel,
- 1 teacup of warm milk (110 ml.),
- 10 grams of baking powder (1 packet),
- 1 coffee spoon of vanilla,
- 1,5 cups of all purpose flour (the cup is: 200 ml.).
For the vanilla batter;
- 1 tablespoon of flour.
For the cocoa batter;
- 2 coffee spoons of cocoa,
- A half teaspoon of baking powder.
For the top;
- Powdered sugar
Process of Zebra Butter Cake Recipe
Firstly, to prepare the cake batter, mix the butter and the sugar in a deep bowl until it gets creamy.
Add the eggs one by one and mix.
Then add the warm milk, grated lemon peel and the vanilla and mix.
Finally add the flour and the baking powder and mix well.
Pour the half of the mixture in an another bowl.
Add two tablespoons of cocoa powder and the baking powder in the first bowl and mix.
Then add the one tablespoon of flour in the second bowl and mix.
Get two mixture one of them is white and the other one is with cocoa.
Preheat the oven to 175°C.
Place a baking sheet in a pie pan or a tray or pyrex (26 cm).
Use one tablespoon for each batter to create the layers of batter on the prepared pan.
Begin from the middle of the pan, take one spoon of cocoa batter then over it add a spoon of white batter and repeat this steps until all batter has been used.
Bake the zebra butter cake in the preheated oven at 175°C until the top of the cake gets golden.
After checking the cake by using a toothpick, remove it from the oven and leave it to cool.
When it gets cool enough, remove the cake from the pan or tray.
Sprinkle powdered sugar on it and serve.
If you cover the zebra cake, you can save the cake for 3 days at the room temperature.
The cake batter is thicker than the batter you make with vegetable oil.
